On Bauchi 903 public schools without teachers
According to unverified data circulating on social media, Bauchi state has about 903 public schools with a single teacher and about 118 with no teacher.
Despite the figures sounding false and unbelievable, they are frightening. Based on the state education’s website, Bauchi state has only 521 public schools and 1463 private schools across the state. Where are those figures emanating from?
Thus, there is a contention about the leaked figures. It is either that a poor survey was conducted before the figures were released or it is the work of mischief makers attempting to smear the state Ministry of Education and the efforts of Governor Bala Muhammad Abdulkadir in revamping the education sector.
Nevertheless, the leaked Excel Sheet is manipulated and doesn’t emanate from the Bauchi State Ministry of Education’s website. Although Bauchi is facing a serious crisis in the sector, the worst hasn’t reached that extent as efforts are ongoing to bridge the teacher gap across the state.
Therefore, the figures presented are fake and lack merit as do not exist on the ministry’s website. The document doesn’t in any way represent the ministry’s position. A scrutiny of the Excel Sheet reveals that the number of the schools presented with a single teacher are even better than the number of the schools on its website, which is impossible.
To this end, people should ignore the false report. It is nothing but a fairy tale that was generated willingly to tarnish the image of the Bauchi state government and the Ministry of Education in particular.
On this note, I urge the good people of Bauchi state not to lose hope due to the work of these unpatriotic citizens as the government is tirelessly working to reform the education sector.
