Bauchi Speaker Urges Community Health Practitioners To Always Discharge Duties Effectively
The Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Dr Abubakar Y. Suleiman, has emphasized the crucial role community health practitioners play in the country’s healthcare system.
He made this yesterday at the opening ceremony of Bauchi 2024 National Scientific Conference organised by the National Association of Community Health Practitioners of Nigeria (NACHPN).
Speaker, Bauchi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dr. Abubakar Y. Suleiman (Ɗangaladiman Ningi) who represented the State Governor was also accompanied to the event by Honorable Members of the House Committee on Health in the Bauchi State legislative arm.
While making remarks, the Speaker inquired to know why such conference was taking place in Bauchi for the first time in the history of the association?. He then assured organisers and participants that their stay in Bauchi as a home of community health practitioners, hospitality hub, interaction with experts and fruitful results of the occasion would definitely make the Executives choose Bauchi for the next year’s cmConference.
Indubitably, Dr. Abubakar revealed that the Emir who spoke at the event has been more active amongst the six Emirs in the State especially on immunization, and therefore he is indirectly a community health practitioner. He warmly welcomed all participants to Bauchi which is a home of peace and tourism, guests according to him have so far testified that Bauchi is hospitable majorly those that arrived a day to the pertinent gathering.
The Speaker emphasized that weather one like or not, health practitioners are the most significant personels we have in the country because services they render are at the grassroots.
He highlighted Bauchi’s, there are 323 Primary Healthcare Centres which are been manned by them, he highlighted that majority of health practitioners at the grassroots are very popular and as a politician, if you want to win election go close to them. He stated that their fame resulted from rendering selfless services to humanity at the grassroot levels.
Rt. Hon. Dr. Abubakar urged participants as they emanated from various locations of the country to engage actively by sharing experiences and knowledge all with the purpose of uplifting their profession. He informed all that the Honorable Members that came along with him are all health practitioners except one, Hon. Bello Sarki Jadori who happened to be a nurse; it means that health practitioners are safe in Bauchi State House of Assembly.
The Speaker reiterated that whenever a Bill, Motion, matter or request related to health are presented in the hallowed chamber, they always give such the attentions necessary. Despite the fact that the State Governor, His Excellency, Senator Bala Mohammad Abdulkadir (Ƙauran Bauchi) is not a health practitioners by profession but he is through health projects. He finalized that importance of health practitioners cannot be over emphasized, then called on them to at all times discharge their duties responsibly within codes and ethics.
