Some netizens have argued that the increase is insignificant due to the rising cost of goods in the country, stating there is nothing to celebrate about the development.

Another user, @AGINAS wrote, “It doesn’t make sense. I remember back then in 2014, my alawee was 19k. The bag of rice was around N4,500 to 5k and I was living a better life than those jubilating 70k today. Would that 70 get a bag of rice for them? NJ.”

“Before making this post try to relate the value of the then 33k and today’s 77k. I think there is nothing to celebrate here,” @balaraabe opined.

On the flip side, @baphacongo, who expressed excitement over the development, tweeted, “It is intriguing to hear that the federal government has approved giving Nysc members a monthly stipend of N77,000.”

Similarly, @WizzyProTec wrote, “A good development… because leaving it at 33k cannot be sustainable due to the increased prices of goods and services.”

“I’m sure this will bring much-needed relief and motivation to the corps members,” @altruist001 tweeted.
