300-Level ATBU Student Found Dead in Hostel Bathroom
Naja’atu Salisu, a 300-level Computer Science student at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) Bauchi, was found dead in the female hostel bathroom on the Gubi campus on Friday morning.
According to reports, Naja’atu had gone to the bathroom to prepare for her morning lectures but failed to return. Her roommate recounted that Naja’atu had completed her usual morning routine and left her clothes for the day by her bedside before entering the bathroom.
Upon discovering her unconscious, fellow students rushed Naja’atu to the university clinic. However, medical personnel struggled to find a vein for treatment, prompting an emergency transfer to the Trauma Centre of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, where she was pronounced dead by medical staff.
The university’s spokesperson, Zailani Bappa, confirmed the incident and noted that Naja’atu has been laid to rest in accordance with Islamic rites.
In a condolence message, the ATBU Students Union Government (SUG) described Naja’atu as a dedicated and hardworking student who will be deeply missed by the university community. The message, signed by the SUG Secretary, Comrade Danladi Zakiru, extended heartfelt sympathies to her family and friends.
The university community is mourning the loss of Naja’atu Salisu, whose untimely death has left a significant void among her peers and faculty.
