Bauchi govt to clear outstanding scholarships, says Gov Bala
The Bauchi State Government has assured the indigenous students of the state that all pending scholarship awards would be settled before the end of this month.
The State Governor Bala Mohammed gave this assurance while addressing leadership and members of National Union of Bauchi State Students (NUBASS) who went to congratulate him over his victory at the Supreme Court.
Bala Mohammed, who noted that he granted approval for the disbursement of the scholarship, wonders why some of the students are yet to receive their entitlement.
Bala who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Ibrahim Kashim, assured direct relevant stakeholders including the commissioner of Education and the Treasury Office to investigate the reason for the delay in the process with a view to address the pending issues.
While appreciating the students for the solidarity visit, the Governor also pledged more commitment to the welfare of the students.
Speaking on behalf of the students, the NUBASS National President Comrade Adam Muhammad Tukur congratulated the Governor for the victory emphasized the need for the state government to consider the plight of the affected students.
According to him, about thirty percent of the students studying within and outside the state are yet to receive the scholarship despite the Governor’s approval.
He therefore, assured the support of all the Indigenous students to Governor Bala Mohammed led administration.
