We’ll Combat Hunger through Dispersal of Humanitarian Aid- Gov Bala

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed says his administration vows to address hunger throught the dissemination of humanitarian relief, calling on farmers to take the advantages of the upcoming raining season to boost food production and ensure food security in the state.

Mohammed was speaking while flagging off the distribution of palliative today at the Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium Bauchi, with a call on Muslims to use the holy month of Ramadan to pray for Bauchi State and Nigeria.

He added that his administration’s has allocated 2 billion naira towards thepurchase of grains, acknowledging the contributions from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the Northeast Development Commission (NEDC), the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security among others.

Mohammed said the distribution aimed at ensuring citizens have access to essential food items during the trying time, adding that his administration has constituted committees to be headed by the Chief of Staff to oversee the procurement, security and equitable distribution to the intended beneficiaries, issuing a stern warning that government will hold the committee accountable for any lapses or infractions in the exercise.

While reiterating the commitment of his administration to ensuring the process is conducted with utmost transparency and integrity, Governor Bala said 40,000 bags of maize, 40,000 of millets, 20,000 of rice and 10,000 of sugar will be distributed across the wards, adding that the 3rd phase of the palliative is underway.

The session was attended by the traditional leaders, high-ranking government officials among others.
