Bauchi Assembly Committee On Education Inspects COE Dass

The Bauchi State House of Assembly Education Committee, led by its Chairman, Hon. Dr. Nasiru Ahmed Ala (Member representing Madara/Chinade), embarked on a two-part mission in Dass. The delegation included Members of the committee and the management team of the newly established College of Education (Technical), Dass.

However, the first part of the visit took the committee to the palace of the Emir of Dass. The Committee Chairman, Hon. Dr. Nasiru Ahmed Ala , explained that the purpose of the visit was to seek the Emir’s fatherly guidance and support in facilitating a crucial meeting with His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Bauchi State. This meeting is intended to address matters affecting the smooth take-off and development of the college.

Hon. Dr. Ala further highlighted the importance of the institution, being the only state-owned technical college, and emphasized the need for collaboration in order to ensure its success. He then requested the Emir’s assistance in arranging an appointment for a joint delegation comprising the Education Committee and the college management to brief the Governor on the institution’s achievements as well as challenges.

In his remarks, the Deputy Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Musa Wakili Nakwada , expressed his gratitude for the Emir’s warm reception and acknowledged the significance of establishing such an institution in Dass. He also reaffirmed the Committee’s commitment to ensuring that the college become a beacon of academic excellence in the region.

In his comnent, the Provost of the College, Dr. Alkali, also addressed the Emir while expressing his deep appreciation for the Committee’s concern toward the institution’s growth. He praised the Emir’s role in fostering education in the region and requested his continued support in ensuring that the College’s needs are addressed, especially regarding infrastructures and staff recruitment.

In his fatherly response, the Emir of Dass, HRH Alh. Uthman Bilyaminu Uthman welcomed the Committee’s initiative, pledging his full support for the College’s development. He then expressed optimism about the future of the institution and suggested that the College’s programs be expanded beyond technical courses to meet the diverse academic needs of the area, including the aspirations of former students from the Bilyaminu Othman College of Education, Dass. The Emir emphasized that cooperation between stakeholders is essential to achieving lasting success, stating, “In shaa Allah, we will achieve this together”.

After the palace visit, the committee proceeded to the College of Education (Technical), Dass, for an oversight inspection of its facilities. The purpose of the inspection was to assess readiness of the institution for full academic activities and identify areas requiring urgent interventions.

During the tour, Hon. Dr. Nasiru assured the management on the Committee’s dedication to addressing the challenges bedeviling the institution. He emphasized the importance of the College as a strategic hub for technical education in Bauchi State and promised to push for the necessary support to ensure its smooth operation.

Provost of the College, Dr. Alkali, expressed gratitude to the Committee for their visit and ongoing support. He provided an overview of the College’s progress and pointed out some critical needs, including the provision of infrastructure and the recruitment of qualified staff. Moreso, Dr. Alkali assured the Committee that the institution is committed to continuous development and looked forward to their continued assistance.

In conclusion, the visit to Dass demonstrated the Education Committee’s proactive approach in ensuring that the newly established College of Education (Technical) receives the support it needs. It also highlighted the critical role of traditional institutions, such as the Emirate, in fostering collaboration towards educational development.
