Floods Devastate 35 Communities in Katagum, Emir, Gov Bala Extend Support
In a display of compassion and leadership, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Dr. Umar Farouk II, OON, Emir of Katagum, visited Sabon Gari village on the outskirts of Azare town to console residents after devastating floods submerged the entire village. The disaster has affected 35 communities across Katagum Local Government Area.
The Emir, known for his deep concern for the welfare of his people, donated N2 million to the flood victims as immediate relief. His Royal Highness’s gesture is part of a broader effort to provide solace and support to those affected by the natural disaster.
In a parallel move, His Excellency, Senator Bala AbdulKadir Mohammed, CON, the Executive Governor of Bauchi State, also made significant contributions to alleviate the suffering of the flood victims. The Governor donated 900 bags of various grains, including 300 bags each of rice, maize, and sorghum, along with 250 mattresses and blankets.
In addition, the Governor has ordered the immediate renovation of the collapsed Azare-Potiskum Federal highway near Buskuri town, which has been severely impacted by the floods.
Katagum Local Government has also stepped up by contributing N1 million to aid those affected by the disaster.
As relief efforts continue, the community remains hopeful for a quick recovery and the necessary assistance to rebuild their lives.
