Sultan Urges Governments To Ensure Security Of Lives, Property

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar has called on the federal and state governments to be proactive instead of reactive on issues thet has to do with security of Nigerans.

He made the call in Bauchi at the closing of the 80th Islamic Vacation Course (IVC), organized by Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN).

Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar who condemning the recent attack meted against people of Plateau state, said condemnation was not enough action must be taken against the perpetrators.

He said as someone who worked with the military, he was fully aware that security intelligence nowadays is faulty and questions must be asked as to what really is happening in this country?

Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar said the integrity of the country’s intelligence gathering mechanism is questionable, arguing that security issues should be separated from politics.

The Sultan emphasized that the perpetrators of such heinous acts should not go unpunished, adding that the security operative who “mistakenly” killed more than one hundred Muslims in Tudun Biri, Kaduna state should also be brought to book.

On his part, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, who served as a Chief Host, represented by his Auwal Jatau, seek the support of MSSN in training of youths and adolescents to make them self reliant and address immorality in the state.

Speaking, the National Amir of the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria, MSSN, Shehu Usman Abubakar who decried the astronomical rise of school fees in the country’s higher institutions, said the situation would lead to an increase in students dropout.

While commending the federal government’s Student Loan Scheme, Shehu Abubakar called on the present administration to revisit the policy saying it was not enough to accommodate the number of youth across the country aspiring to acquire higher education.

The Chairman of the Occasion and Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Alhaji Yayale Ahmed challenged the MSSN to think beyond organising IVC by coming up with a template for establishing a university to make it more relevant in the face of numerous challenges.
