PWDs students seeks Gombe first lady’s intervention over non issuance of skill acquisition packages

A group of Persons with Disabilities Students (PWDS) of Gombe State University (GSU) has called the attention of Gombe State First Lady Her Excellency Haj. Asma’ u Mohammed Inuwa yahaya, to promptly come to their help over the non issuance of skill acquisition training equipments earlier promised to issue to them at end of a six month intensive computer training they undertook in the institution last year.

In a letter addressed to the first lady and made a copy available to Katagum Dailypost, the president of the students’ body Mal. Abdulahi A. Awak said “I write on behalf of the peoples with Disabilities Students ( PWD’S ) to congratulates your Excellency on the victory of your dear husband and caring father for the PWD in the past elections”

“He deserved the victory he gained which does not come as a surprise to many, due to the way he brings so much development in Gombe State and touched the life of million PWD included”

Awak added, “Secondly, I wish to remind you of the computer training which you sponsored us for the duration of six months, which we believed that at the end of the six months training you will provides us with a laptop Computers which will assist us in carrying out our assignment and project work”

“It should have been better if the training end with ceremony and issuance of certificates to make us happy”

“As a mother, we are calling on you to kindly look at our plights and review the matter because during our training period; some of us had to come from far as Kaltungo, Shonhom and Billiri, while non indigines had to manage for themselve in Gombe, purposely for the weekend trainings” the president concluded

Meanwhile, an investigation conducted by Katagum Dailypost correspondent revealed that the computer literacy training sponsored by the First Lady Haj Asma’ u Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya, was essentially aimed at equipping the PWDs students with relevent business oriented skills in order to position them in good stead for self-relience after their studies.

The training which run for the period of six months graduated an approximate number of not fewer than ten Deaf, eight Blind and twelve physically challenged students respectively.
