In response to the severe water crisis caused by frequent power outages in the Azare/Madangala constituency, Hon. Alh Zakariyya Sale Maigero, the lawmaker representing the area, has stepped in with a lifesaving intervention.
The lawmaker distributed free fuel to power generators that supply water from boreholes, easing the burden on residents who have been struggling to access clean water.
The initiative saw Hon. Zakariyya’s team distributing fuel to over 40 borehole sites across the constituency, ensuring that the generators powering the water systems could run despite the ongoing electricity challenges.
With power outages affecting the ability to pump water, many residents were forced to purchase water at high costs, with prices exceeding 1,000 Naira per tank in some areas.
Hon. Zakariyya’s intervention has provided immediate relief to the affected communities, as access to water remains a critical need. His actions have not only helped reduce the financial strain on families but also ensured that water, an essential resource, remains available to all.
Speaking on the intervention, Hon. Maigero said, “We saw how people were struggling to get water, and we knew we had to act quickly. The cost of buying water has become too high, and the power outages make the situation worse. By distributing free fuel to these boreholes, we are helping to make sure that everyone has access to the water they need.”
