BREAKING: Suspected kidnappers abduct 6 in Ningi
Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have reportedly abducted six individuals during an attack on Kurmi village in Ningi LGA of Bauchi State.
The incident occurred late Sunday night when the kidnappers raided the village, firing shots to instil fear among the residents as they targeted their victims.
According to reports from the area, the kidnappers wounded one person during the attack, who is currently receiving medical treatment at the hospital.
Caretaker Chairman of Ningi LGA, Hon Ibrahim Zubairu Mato, confirmed the incident, stating that the armed kidnappers initially attacked Tara village before targeting Kurmi.
The Caretaker Chairman explained that the six kidnappers coordinated the attack from different angles of the village.
Among those injured were a nursing mother and a former Councillor, Hon Abdulrahaman Jibrin Kurmi, who sustained a gunshot wound to his arm but was not abducted.
The nursing mother has since been released and reunited with her family, while the other five victims, including the son of the former Councillor, remain in captivity as of Thursday.
Hon Ibrahim Zubairu directed that the wounded victims be transported to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Birnin Kudu in Jigawa state for medical care, with the Council covering the expenses.
He reiterated the Council’s commitment to enhancing security measures across the local government area to protect the lives and property of all citizens.
All efforts to get a reaction from the State Police Command failed as the PPRO, SP Ahmed Wakili neither picked up the phone nor replied to the SMS and WhatsApp messages sent to his mobile number as of the time of filling this report.
