In collaboration with the Nigerian University Engineering Students’ Association (NUESA), the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Medical Students Association (ATBUMSA) under my leadership of Abdulmumeen Ibraheem Aliyu, hosted a free medical outreach that impacted the lives of 100 students: 30 students from Special Education Centre (S.E.C) in Yelwa Bauchi (Visual and hearing impaired), and about 70 students from the Faculty of Engineering and Engineering Technology at ATBU Bauchi.
This was contained in the press statement released by Citizen Fahad Abdullahi Ibrahim (CTC Chairman Engineering department) on Thursday.
The outreach was held on Wednesday, February 7th, 2024, at the Engineering Garden, Block C Complex in the University, where one hundred patients were attended to.
Fahad, at the Engineering Garden remarked that the essence of the free medical outreach was to ensure regular medical check-up and free screenings to enable the patients to know their health status.
“We want to ensure that people have access to basic healthcare services, especially those who may not be able to afford it,” he said.
According to him “this outreach is a way for us to give back to the community and make a difference in people’s lives.”
The event was a huge success, and the patients were grateful for the opportunity to receive the free medical care.
The free medical services included: blood pressure measurement and blood grouping. Adding that a Hepatitis B test was conducted, accompanied by a post-counseling unit for all students.
He expresses his sincere appreciation to Comr Ahmad Abdullahi Bacce who played a crucial role in the success of this event and Sabiu Shehu Yakubu for providing sign language interpretation to the students with special needs.
He also thanked all engineering and medical students who contributed to the success of this outreach.
