Bauchi gov’t to commence deduction from workers’ salary
Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has granted an approval for the commencement of deduction from workers’ salary for their immediate enrollment into the formal sector component of the State Health Contributory scheme.
The state Commissioner for Health Dr Adamu Sambo made this known at the 2023 Merit and Productivity Award ceremony organized by the Bauchi State Health Contributory Management Agency, BASHCMA, held at the Agency’s premises in Bauchi.
Dr. Sambo said the development was a demonstration of the Governor’s commitment towards improving health status of workers and ensuring the actualization of Universal Health Coverage.
He commended BASHCMA for the organising third year consecutive Merit and Productivity Award, saying such move would motivate workers to do more.
Speaking, the state Head of Service, Alhaji Yahuza Adamu Haruna, said BASHCMA was new among the agencies under the state ministry of health, but was doing credibly well than most of the old ones.
He noted that the achievements so far recorded in the agency might not be unconnected to the good leadership being exhibited by the Executive Secretary, Dr Mansur Mustapha Dada.
Represented by the the office’s Director Administration and Human Resources, Mohammed Bello Mohammed charged the awardees to see the recognition as a challenge to rededicate themselves and offer more service to the people.
The ceremony recognized twenty selected best performing Primary Health Care Centres receiving the award across the the twenty Local Government Areas of the state.
The agency has also awarded three best General Hospitals, seven best Staff of the agency, three BASHCMA LGA Desk Officers, best security officer and best cleaner.
In an interview with Radio Nigeria, some of the awardees, Director, Marketing and Communication, BASHCMA, Hadiatu Sulaiman and Director ICT, Abduljalal Shehu expressed delight for the recognition and assured to put more effort towards improving service delivery.
The event had earlier witnessed good will messages from World Health Organisation, State Drug and Medical Consumable Management Agency, State Health Management Board, National Productivity Centre, the Organized Labour, among others.
