Tinubu re-appointes Dr. Bayero Salih as DG/CEO NITT

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the reappointment of Dr. Bayero Salih Farah as the Director General/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology, Zaria, for a second term of four years.

The reappointment was communicated through a letter signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume. The letter reads, “I am pleased to inform you that His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, has approved the renewal of your appointment as Director General/Chief Executive of the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology, Zaria for a second and final term of four (4) years in accordance with the provisions of Section 7(1), (2), and (4) of the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology Act, 1986, CAP 116, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria.

According the statement issued by the Institute’s Head of Press and Public Relations Unit, John Kolawole, and made available to newsmen on Saturday, says, “This appointment is effective from 13th January 2024, and your emoluments and other conditions of service shall be as provided under the NITT Act.”

Furthermore the statement noted that Dr. Farah possesses a track record of sterling and exceptional performance, which led to the massive and unprecedented transformation of NITT, unrivaled since the institute’s inception in 1986.

He, who holds a Ph.D. from the University of Huddersfield, United Kingdom, joined the services of NITT in 1994 as a Senior Staff Development Officer, having earlier worked as a classroom teacher and later as a National Population Census Cartographic Officer.

He rose through the ranks to the position of a Director in NITT in 2013 and then substantive DG/CE on 13th January 2020.

The statement added that it is anticipated that his reappointment will lead to the expansion of the Institute’s scope of operation, as well as the completion of the liaison offices spread across the six geopolitical zones.
