Bauchi Speaker Conferred With Barden Kudun Katagum Title

The Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dr. Abubakar Y. Suleiman, has been honored with the prestigious title of Barden Kudun Katagum by the Katagum Emirate Council.

The conferment, held at his official residence, was a recognition of his dedicated service and significant contributions to the people of Bauchi State.

A delegation from the Katagum Emirate Council, led by retired Deputy Commissioner of Police and Mai Dalan Katagum, Alh. Kabiru Ɗandibe, presented Dr. Suleiman with the letter conferring the title. The group included other esteemed officials, such as Sarkin Zagi and Sarkin Rafi.

In his remarks, Alh. Kabiru explained that the Emir of Katagum, HRH Umar Faruk Umar II, chose to honor Dr. Suleiman for his unwavering commitment to community development, advocacy for the people, and exemplary leadership.

The title, historically reserved for individuals of valor, loyalty, and impactful service, recognizes the Speaker’s steadfast dedication.

“The Speaker has consistently championed beneficial representation and democratic dividends for his constituents and Bauchi State as a whole,” said Alh. Kabiru.

“His role as a link between the government and the people embodies the qualities that define the title of Barde.”

Speaking on behalf of Dr. Suleiman, Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon. Jamilu Umar Dahiru commended the Emir for his inclusive approach, highlighting the Speaker’s deep connection to the Katagum area.

Dr. Suleiman, who was raised in Azare and has family roots in the area, is known for his close ties to the community, where he has contributed significantly to local development.

“The title of Barden Kudun Katagum inspires me to double my efforts in serving Bauchi,” he stated.
