Bauchi Makes History with Northern Nigeria’s First Oil and Gas Academy in Alkaleri

In a groundbreaking development for Northern Nigeria and the entire country, Bauchi State has announced the establishment of the Bauchi Oil and Gas Academy Alkaleri (BOGAA). The announcement was made during a press briefing by the Honorable Commissioner of Natural Resources, Mohammad Maiwada Bello (1st Sadaukin Alkaleri), following an executive council meeting held at the Bauchi State Council Chambers.

Hon. Bello credited this historic achievement to the visionary leadership of Governor Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed (Kauran Bauchi), stating that BOGAA embodies Bauchi State’s commitment to youth empowerment, economic growth, and positioning itself at the forefront of Nigeria’s energy sector.

Bridging the Skills Gap in Nigeria’s Energy Sector

Addressing the press, Hon. Bello highlighted the academy’s mission to address Nigeria’s skills shortage in the oil and gas sector. “With the global energy landscape rapidly evolving, the need for skilled professionals in oil and gas is critical,” he stated. BOGAA’s curriculum, developed in collaboration with industry leaders and reputable organizations such as PETRO-EDU, is designed to prepare students for high-demand careers through immersive training, internships, and workshops that mirror industry standards.

For the first time, youth from Northern Nigeria will have the opportunity to enter an industry traditionally out of reach, bringing both pride and economic growth to their communities. Hon. Bello also unveiled plans for another transformative project: the state’s first mineral processing and buying center, located in Alkaleri LGA. This initiative is expected to stimulate local industry, create jobs, and provide a structured marketplace for Bauchi’s mineral resources. “This center will not only enhance our mineral wealth but also create a structured marketplace to support local businesses and job creation,” he said.

Bello, these efforts have already attracted millions of dollars in foreign investment, positioning Bauchi State as a prime destination for global investors.
