Bauchi is Surcharged in Federal Employment, Appointment — Gov Bala
Bauchi State Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir, has declared that the state has been surcharged in terms of fair representation in the federal appointment of its citizens.
He therefore urged the Federal Character Commission (FCC) to ensure that the state was not marginalised in the appointment of its citizens to key Federal Ministries, Departments, and agencies.
The Governor made the plea on Wednesday while receiving a delegation from the Federal Character Commission led by its Executive Chairperson, Dr Muhibbah Dan Kaka, at the Government House in Bauchi, stressing that the call was in a move to ensure fairness in federal appointments as enshrined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended.
He emphasised the importance of equity and justice in federal appointments, stressing that Bauchi State should be adequately represented at the federal level.
He stressed the need for the Commission to uphold its mandate of promoting balanced representation among states and fostering inclusivity across federal agencies.
The governor noted that Bauchi, like other states, has qualified and capable individuals who can effectively serve the nation if given the required opportunity.
According to him, “Fair and equitable representation in federal appointments would not only enhance unity but also foster a sense of belonging among citizens from all regions.”
The Governor stressed that the FCC holds one of the esteemed positions in the commission of federal establishments saddled with the responsibility of balancing the equation when it comes to political and public offices in the country.
Bala Mohammed then assured that he will give the Commission the needed support to enable it to succeed in the task ahead of giving the country a balanced federal representation.
He requested that the state should always be given its share of allocation in terms of employment and appointment opportunities at the federal level.
Earlier, the Executive Chairperson of the Commission, Dr. Muhibbah Dan Kaka, assured the Governor that the Commission remains focused on promoting an equitable distribution of positions across all states.
She pledged that Bauchi’s concerns would be taken into consideration as the Commission carries out its responsibilities, stressing that the FCC was established to promote unity and ensure even distribution of public offices.
The Executive Chairperson said that the overall objective of the Commission is to promote unity, equity, and justice in Nigeria through the even distribution of offices and appointments as contained in the constitution.
She described Bala Mohammed as one of the leaders in the country who believes in the unity of purpose of one Nigeria, an indivisible nation.
