Katsina Gov’t Moves Towards Greater Inclusion for Students with Disabilities

Hon. Umar Jibril Bindawa, Special Assistant on Disabled Matters to Katsina State Governor Mallam Umar Dikko Radda, met with the Honorable Commissioner of Basic and Secondary Education on Wednesday, to address challenges and discuss strategies to improve inclusivity in the state’s educational system for people with disabilities.

During this critical discussion, Hon. Bindawa and the Commissioner explored issues impacting students with disabilities, focusing on Katsina’s special boarding schools and primary education within inclusive schools in several Local Government Areas (LGAs).

Hon. Bindawa expressed satisfaction with the Commissioner’s response, as she showed strong commitment to addressing the concerns raised, including the pressing need for inclusivity improvements, employment and empowerment opportunities for people with disabilities, and the critical shortage of permanent teaching staff in inclusive schools across various LGAs.

“This positive outcome strengthens our shared mission of fostering an inclusive and equitable education system in Katsina State,” stated Hon. Bindawa.
