JUST IN: Again, National Grid Collapses

Nigeria’s national grid has collapsed for the third time in one week, causing widespread power outages across the country.

This latest collapse occurred on Saturday at 8:16 am, with power generation dropping to zero.

The grid had previously tripped off on Monday and Tuesday while it was being restored.

The national grid is a complex network that includes generating plants, transmission systems, and distribution companies. A collapse occurs when the entire power transmission system experiences a failure, often due to technical faults, insufficient generation, transmission challenges, or overloading of the grid.

Before the collapse, power generation was 3,042 megawatts at 8 am and had peaked at 3,968MW at 7 am.

Unfortunately, allocation to power distribution companies stood at 0.00MW at the time of reporting.
