Bauchi Hosts 2025 Budget Public Hearing for Bauchi North
The Bauchi State Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning on Wednesday organized a public hearing for the 2025 budget, specifically for the Bauchi North Senatorial District.
The event, held at Aminu Saleh College of Education in Azare, brought together representatives from the seven local government areas that make up the district: Katagum, Zaki, Gamawa, Giade, Shira, Itas/Gadau, and Jama’are.
The primary goal of the program was to discuss the various challenges faced by communities within the region and to collaborate on solutions that will inform the planning of the 2025 budget.
Alhaji Aminu Hammayo, the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry which he emphasized the importance of the public hearing as a means to gather firsthand input from citizens about the issues affecting their communities.
He urged participants to engage constructively, ensuring that their contributions would help shape the government’s budgetary decisions.
Hon. Yusuf Babayo Zaki, Chairman of Katagum Local Government, expressed his gratitude for the initiative, noting that such programs are essential for driving positive change.
He highlighted that the government has already begun addressing some of the challenges previously identified and continues to work on others, leading to noticeable improvements in the region.
He stressed that this ministry provides a critical opportunity for the government to understand the needs and aspirations of people, particularly those in rural areas.
Hakimin Azare Galadima Magaji Abdulkadir also commended the state government for introducing the program, which he believes will enhance trust and transparency in budget allocation.
He remarked that the hearing provides a valuable platform for the public to voice their concerns and ensures that the government can offer solutions without any suspicion regarding the distribution of funds.
The program saw the attendance of various stakeholders, including local government chairmen, traditional leaders, stakeholders, and religious leaders such as chief Imams, underscoring the importance and inclusivity of the hearing in shaping the future of the Bauchi North Senatorial District.
