Bauchi Police Arrest Man for Abducting Two Almajiri in Udubo
The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 37-year-old man, Abubakar Talba, from Borno State for allegedly abducting and abusing two young Almajiri boys in Udubo Village, Gamawa local Government, Bauchi state.
The arrest followed a tip-off from concerned community members who reported Talba’s suspicious behavior.
According to the police, Talba, originally from Hausari Dandal in Borno State, used the guise of running a Quranic school to lure and exploit the boys. He reportedly first encountered one of his victims, a 12-year-old boy named Masaud Barau from Niger Republic, while attending a Quranic school in Kano State. Talba convinced the boy to accompany him to Daura, Katsina State, under the pretense of helping him start a business.
In Daura, Talba met his second victim, 13-year-old Ibrahim Jabiru, who was attending a Quranic school at Tsangayar Malam Usman. Talba promised to help Ibrahim start a business selling flashlights and batteries, persuading him to leave with him.
Talba allegedly took the boys to Danbatta, Kano State, where the abuse began. He continued the abuse after moving them to Udubo Village in Bauchi State.
The Bauchi State Police, led by CP Auwal Musa Mohammed, said that Talba would be charged to court once the investigation is complete. The police are also appealing to the public for any information that could help locate the victims’ families.
Police Public Relations Officer SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil emphasized the importance of community vigilance and urged citizens to report any suspicious activities to authorities promptly.
