Musa Azare Commends Gov Bala’s Swift Action in De-escalating Azare Violent Protest
The Caretaker Committee Chairman of Katagum Local Government Area, Honourable Musa Mohammed Azare, has lauded Governor Bala Mohammed’s prompt and fatherly intervention in quelling the recent violent protest in Azare town, Bauchi State.
Speaking during a visit by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Bala Ciroma, for an on-the-spot assessment, Azare highlighted the Governor’s decisive action in restoring order amid chaos caused by looting and vandalism.
“The Governor’s swift response played a crucial role in bringing normalcy to Katagum when the nationwide protest turned violent. His intervention helped contain the situation, preventing further damage,” Azare stated.
The Chairman expressed relief that no lives were lost during the incident and urged the youth to shun actions that could jeopardize the nation’s peace and economic stability.
“I deeply appreciate the Governor’s efforts. His quick response was instrumental in resolving the issue,” he added.
Azare also thanked the DIG for his visit, noting that the curfew imposed during the unrest had been relaxed due to residents’ compliance, allowing normal activities to resume.
DIG Ciroma condemned the violent acts, emphasizing that while protests are constitutional, they must not involve destruction of property.
“Nigerians, especially protesters, should exercise patience and avoid violent actions. They have the right to protest but not to destroy public or government property. It’s important to think carefully before acting,” Ciroma advised.
He confirmed that normalcy had returned to Azare but stressed the importance of enhancing security to prevent future occurrences. His visit aimed to engage with the community and educate them on the dangers of violent protests.
Accompanied by Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Julius Alawari and Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, CP Auwal Musa Mohammed, DIG Ciroma visited major deployment locations across the state, including Azare, where a curfew had been imposed due to security concerns.
