Bauchi APC Urges Citizens Not To Partake In Nationwide Protest

The Bauchi State Chapter of the All Progressive Congress(APC) has urged residents in the state not to partake in the nationwide protest slated for the 1st of August 2024.

It maintained that joining the protest would disrupt the peace enjoyed in the state, stressing that to be forewarned is to be forearmed.

The party stated this in a press statement signed by the State Chairman of the party, Muhammad Hassan, and made available to journalists in Bauchi.

According to the state chapter of the party, security agencies in the country who know better have warned that foreign elements are drafted to take advantage of the proposed protest to cause chaos in the country which Bauchi State is an integral part.

The statement stated that there have been calls from traditional and religious leaders and stakeholders in the country for Nigerians to see reasons not to join in the protest as the development will not augur well for the peace of the country.

“Besides, history and other sad and violent experiences of other nations like Sudan, Kenya, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka to name but a few should serve as warning lessons to us in Bauchi. We also saw how the EndSars protest devastated Lagos state and other states”

“It’s foolhardy to think that all these experts, leaders, wise men are all wrong or that history of protests and experiences of other nations don’t matter. Indeed our leaders and experts are right and history and experiences do matter a whole lot. Since we know the history, we must not allow history to repeat itself”

“Now, therefore on behalf of APC Bauchi State Chapter and our teeming members, make this passionate appeal to the good people of Bauchi State to listen to the voice of reason and avoid this protest at all cost. It will not augur well for our dear state, our businesses, our economy, and our social well-being”

“Moreover, we urge the state government to not, for political motives, clandestinely or tacitly encourage, incite, condone or be indifferent to this protest in any way, form or shape. We urge the governor to be proactive in ensuring the security of lives and property of all citizens of Bauchi State “

“Lastly and more importantly, this is not about the constitutionality or otherwise of a peaceful protest. It’s about the peace, security, democracy, and territorial integrity of our nation that we are forewarned is at stake. Bauchi must remain the most peaceful state at all costs.We all must strive towards that goal by saying no to this protest” The statement read in parts
