Health Minister visits Katagum emirate, pledges more development, seeks emir’s blessing

In a significant visit to Bauchi State, the Honorable Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Ali Pate, was warmly received by the Medical Director of Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Azare, Dr. Dauda Abubakar Katagum, FWACS, and his management team. The reception took place at the main entrance of Azare town along Misau Road on the 10th of April, 2024.
Following the warm welcome, Dr. Katagum led the Minister and his entourage to the Emir’s Palace, where the Hon. Minister paid a sallah homage to His RoyalHighness, the Emir of Katagum. In his address, Dr. Katagum introduced the Minister and his team to the Emir of Katagum, Dr. Umar Faruq II. The visit was marked by heartfelt addresses and exchanges, highlighting the deep respect between national leadership and traditional institutions.
Professor Pate, in his remarks, outlined the main purposes of his visit to the Emir: to pay Sallah homage, to seek forgiveness for his inability to visit the palace earlier than now due the very tight schedule of the office, and to discuss the federal government’s development initiatives for the Katagum emirates and Bauchi State at large. He also told the Emir that efforts are on top gear to see to the upgrade of Federal Medical Centre Azare to a Teaching Hospital. He emphasized the President’s commitment to the region and requested that the Governor of Bauchi State and the Emir consider paying a thank-you visit to the President in recognition of his contributions to the State.
The Emir of Katagum expressed his gratitude for the Minister’s visit and the development projects initiated under his leadership. He was particularly pleased with the timely initiatives that will benefit not just the Katagum Emirate but Bauchi State and Nigeria as a whole. Dr. Umar Faruq II offered prayers for the Minister, seeking divine guidance and protection for him and his endeavors.
Continuing their mission of goodwill, Dr. Katagum and the visiting officials also traveled to the Jamaare Emirate Council to extend their Sallah greetings, replicating the warm and productive dialogue experienced in Katagum.
This visit not only strengthened the ties between federal leadership and traditional authorities but also highlighted the ongoing commitment to development and welfare in Bauchi State and beyond.
