Police arrest 15 suspected criminals in Gombe
In its crackdown on crime and criminalities, the Gombe State Police Command, under the leadership of CP Hayatu Usman, has arrested 15 suspects for various offences.
The feat was the relentless efforts of the Command to combat crime and ensure the safety of residents and others passing through.
According to the Command PPRO, ASP Mahid Muazu Abubakar, who briefed journalists on behalf of the Commissioner, three suspects were arrested for criminal conspiracy and being in possession of illegal firearms.
The suspects arrested are 25-year-old Hassan Danladi, 42-year-old Seth Adamu, and 22-year-old Eli Bulus.
He stated that, on 21/03/2023, acting on credible intelligence, one Hassan Danladi, 25 years, a native of Kaltungo LGA was found with some illegal arms in his possession which comprised of Dane gun, bow and arrows, charms and armlets.
Upon preliminary investigation, the suspect confessed to having illegally gotten the firearms from Seth Adamu and Eli Bulus, all of Kaltungo LGA, as the case is under investigation.
Also, one Mohammed Umar, alias Madaki, of Bomala Quarters, Gombe, was arrested for causing grievous hurt following a distress call received on 22/03/2023 at about 1830 hours from one Mohammed Mohammed of Bomala Quarters.

He reported that the above-mentioned suspect armed himself with a cutlass and attacked him; as a result, he inflicted a deep matchet cut on his left hand.
On receipt of the complaint, the team of Operation Hattara swung into action and rushed the victim to FTH Gombe for medical attention, where he is being treated. During the course of investigations, the suspect was arrested, and he confessed to having committed the crime.
The Command also arrested 27-year-old Adamu Bello of Barunde Quarters for criminal conspiracy and armed robbery following a complaint that was lodged on March 23, 2023, at about 8:00 a.m. by one Almustapha El-Yakubu of Barunde Quarters.
He complained that on the same date, at about 0140 hours, a group of hoodlums numbering about six armed themselves with a matchet and other dangerous weapons, trespassed into his house, and successfully stole away the following items:
The items included an Infinix NOTE 30 Pro, an Itel keypad handset, a Nokia 110, a travel bag, clothes, a standing fan, a plasma TV measuring 32 inches and 25 inches, as well as 12 wristwatches and tea kits, all valued at N1,162,400.
After a detailed investigation, the accused was arrested and most of the exhibits were recovered from his possession as the case is still under investigation.
Furthermore, the Command arrested 25-year-old Buba Wakili and Babangida Ahmadu, all of Damra for criminal conspiracy and kidnapping
The PPRO boasted that on March 2, 2024, at about 0700 hrs, following a formal complaint received from one Buba Tukur of Damba village via Nafada LGA, unknown persons intimidated him to pay the sum of N1,000,000 or risk being kidnapped.
A detailed investigation was carried out, and the above-named suspects have confessed to having conspired among themselves to carry out the dastardly act. The investigation is ongoing and will soon be charged to court for possible prosecution.
The Command also arrested 23-year-old Adamu Maikudi of Mai Rana village in Billiri LGA for committing the offences of criminal conspiracy and theft.
The PPRO stated that on March 16, 2024, at about 1130 hrs, one Anchau Maishanu reported at Pero Chonge Divisional headquarters that, on March 15, 2024, at about 2000 hrs, three suspects conspired among themselves and stole his 23 cows from Golombi village and sold them.
The case was incidental, and an investigation was carried out where the above-named suspect was arrested and all the exhibits were recovered.
Also, for criminal conspiracy and theft, two suspects—Usman Yarima, 23 years old, and Sani Adamu, 25 years old—were on March 20, 2024, at about 0900 hrs.
He stated that information was received from a credible source that on March 18, 2024, some youths from Gombe, Digize, and Bozonshulwa were terrorising the Federal Highway, which links Bojude and Dukku, where there were several potholes on the road where every vehicle plying the road must slow down in order not to damage their vehicles.
As a result, the suspects took advantage, climbed on top of the vehicle, and stole some goods loaded without the driver’s knowledge. Exhibits recovered from the suspect include three cartons of soft drinks and half a bag of beans.
One Nasiru Sani was arrested for the offences of criminal conspiracy, house trespass, and theft.
On March 26, 2023, one Elizabeth Yusuf, 25 years old, from Tunfure, came to Tumfure Divisional Police headquarters and reported that on the same date, at about 1100 hrs, two unknown persons came to her POS shop and stole her bag containing N200,000.00.
After a preliminary investigation, one Nasiru Sani, 18 years old, of Alkahira quarters, was arrested in connection with the crime. The case is still under investigation and will be charged in court for prosecution.
Also, for criminal trespass, theft, and being in possession of a dangerous weapon, the command arrested 20-year-old Abubakar Saleh.
On March 25, 2024, at about 0300 hours, the suspect was arrested in possession of a knife and two phones, with an investigation revealing that the suspect trespassed into a house at Barunde Quarters and stole them. The case is under investigation and will be charged to court upon completion.
For criminal conspiracy and armed robbery, Anas Ibrahim, 20 years old, and Zaradeen Abubakar were arrested by the police.
On March 29, 2024, at about 2030 hrs, the suspects conspired with others now at large, armed with cutlasses, to invade the house of the complainant, Hajara Musa of Arawa quarters and Naru Isah of Arawa quarters, all in Gombe.
They robbed them of their valuable items, including One rechargeable fan valued at N25,000, One Infinix Smart6 valued at N70,000, a Valon phone and itel keypad valued at N110,000 and a sum of N130,000 cash
The PPRO reiterated that the State Police Command, under its current leadership, remains committed to upholding law and order within the state.
“In view of our relentless effort to safeguard the citizens, the Command wishes to draw the attention of heavy truck drivers and trailers carrying foodstuffs in and out of the state to be wary of criminal elements, especially where the road network is bad, who climb on top of those trucks and bring down some of the foodstuffs without the knowledge of the drivers,” he added.
He concluded by stating that, on a final note, the Commissioner of Police commends the dedication of the officers and men of the command and urges members of the public to continue feeding the command with some vital information that will aid in the fight against crime.”
