NCC Warns Bauchi Telecom, Financial Subscribers Against Fraudsters
In Bauchi state, Telecom and other financial platform subscribers have been advised to acquire e-knowledge and be vigilant to guard themselves against fraudsters.
The Director Consumer Affairs of the Nigeria Communications Commission NCC, Alhaji Umar Alkasim gave the advice during a one day sensitisation workshop on e-financial fraud, held in Bauchi.
Umar Alkasim represented by the Head of Consumer Policy Unit Mr Banji Ojo said the call became imperative considering the increase in fraudulent activities especially from Yahoo boys and other related crimes, within and outside the country.
He explained that the essence of the sensitisation workshop was to expose people on how to deal with unknown individuals in telecom space and secure their daily electronic financial transactions.
The NCC Director lamented that lack of proper knowledge and exposure on e- business has made many people fall victims of dupe and don’t know were to report such cases.
He therefore called on the participants to use the knowledge acquired during the session to secure themselves from fraud related activities and to step it down to others.
Also speaking, the Bauchi State Commissioner of Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises, Muhammad Hamisu Shira said the event was apt in view of prevalence of fraud activities among some sections of people in the country.
Muhammad Shira, represented by the ministry’s Director of Cooperatives Usman Adamu called on the NCC to extend the sensitisation campaign to all nooks and crannies of the state for people to benefit.
The sensitisation workshop, organised by NCC in collaboration with Aisha Kwaku & Associates with the theme” Shine your eyes, No Fall Mugu”, also witnessed goodwill and other eye opener messages from the anti Nigeria graft agency EFCC and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) among other official from various business associations.
